This is honestly my favorite musical. Im pretty glad that SJWs have pretty much left it untouched (at least, I think they have). It has a lot of serious themes but doesnt take itself too seriously in the beginning, allowing it to be able to entertain the audience and then draw them into a more serious and dramatic mood. I just think that this is a better way to reach out to people and make them sympathize more with the trans community rather than bashing people for not being super politically correct and etc. Admittedly, I saw the movie version first and it was slightly cringe-worthy because of the shock value, but the great story telling eventually let me see through all that and just see a person.
