This is horrible... I love animals and would never do anything - TopicsExpress

This is horrible... I love animals and would never do anything intentional to harm one, but today I accidentally did. :( A beautiful, fluffy kitty darted across the street right in front of me as I was driving. :( Yes, it was not good for the cat who was now lifeless in the road. I pulled over to at least prevent another person from running him over again, but before I could take my seat belt off and open my door, a frantic lady was hysterically screaming on the phone, (to what I now know was 911,) that her baby has been hit by a car! Hes dead! Hes dead!! OK, I love my critters, but calling 911 to report their death?! Well we all know small town Ojai can take swift action when necessary, who heard all those sirens?! Yep! That was me, the baby killing murderer as she told them who I was. Umpteen police cars, 2 fire trucks, and the ambulances kept comin!! Sheesh! This put me on the defensive and instantly let me know I wouldnt have the ability to get on her wave length to speak rationally and civilly with her, I welcomed the police mediation. In the course of things she explained she bred him and his babies or matings, whatever, was a good source of income for her. I was going to make a peace offer of helping obtain a new family member prior to learning this, but now, regardless of how I feel about what she does with her animals, etc, I feel morally responsible to get a kitty with equal or higher valued sperm than what was still laying uncovered and gruesome on the ground. I dont have a lot of money, and cash isnt something I keep on me, but I had a $20 in my wallet. I asked the officer if hed help me in getting her to agree to payments for a purchase of another breeding cat, explaining I knew it wouldnt replace the cat, but it could at least replace the income she relied on. When the lady finally accepted I wouldnt be arrested for murder, vehicular manslaughter, or the ilk, and her outrage that I would be walking free after such a brutal assault on her and her family was BlahBlahBlah... Sorry, I had to tune her out at some point. Yes, she agreed to accept payments for acquiring a cat of her choice from wherever she chose. I thought all was hunky dory as could be for this situation and handed the officer my cash, he asked her if she would take it, she did. In an INSTANT before I could blink my eyes officers were all over her! Cuffing, frisking, reading her rights, back of squad car... It was crazy!!! So in the chaos after I was told its good to go home, I realized I forgot to ask WHY she was arrested! So Im asking those with their scanners and such or the ones who were out gawking, (yes I saw many, what else are you gonna do in Ojai?! ;) ) why was this woman arrested? And to the neighbors, whats her backstory? Thanks for reading all the way through, I know it was long.
