This is how I know I found the right company! This is my personal upline! Today is her 20th year with Usborne Books!!! She is one the sweetest and most helpful people I have ever met! Not to mention, she is great at motivating us to be who we want to be and where we want to be in the company! TODAY IS A SPECIAL DAY!! It was 20 years ago today that Tom and I decided to become a consultant with Usborne Books & More (Usborne Books at Home, as that time). I found a lady that sold locally and called her to ask her about it - she said she was quitting and that I could use a few of her books. She brought a small box of books (maybe 10) over and a few sheets of paper that had been crooked in the copier that had been set too dark. I called the Home Office to see if I could order my $169 kit over the phone - the answer was ....I guess. Why did we do this?? We wanted to provide the best in books for our children. Georgia 3 1/2 and Calvin 1 1/2, as well as my 16 year old step-daughter Michelle, loved the books!!! It was always a surprise when the big brown book deliver truck rolled down the street, as there was no order tracking in 1994, and actually there was no website, no OrderPro, no Facebook, no Back Office, not even any pretty branding colors! Our first goal was to sell enough books to pay back the cost of the kit to our joint checking account, then to pay for pizza twice a month, then it quickly turned to promoting to a leader, which we did within 3 months of that decision. It great quickly at that point and after 15 months we had 2 1st line leaders and 93 people on the whole team...and Martin had been born by c-section. We kept focused on growing a team of people who wanted to sell books and grow their teams, and we kept focused on it, and we kept focused on it. Today, 20 years later, we are proud to say that the Usborne Achievers are the #1 team in the country, which is made up of 172 Team Leaders (and MANY more promoting soon!!!), each leading their own teams of awesome Consultants! How has the UBAM business impacted our family??? Why? Because each step is an important learning and relationship building opportunity. We wouldnt be where we are without each of them. The true treasures that I never anticipated in this business are the amazing lifelong friendships!! Through Usborne Books & More we, people who value children and education, come together and have opportunities to make a difference. Our mission statement is a powerful one, one that guides me daily.
