This is how history is made. And thank you, dear Dayana Torres, for your leadership. Your mom must be so proud. But, I must raise a couple of points: First, why are Washington Post and The New York Times still calling immigrants illegal? Undocumented youth who qualify for deferred action have temporary legal status. So its factually inaccurate to call them illegal; more so, its morally irresponsible. Second, as much as I applaud students who excel and do well, we must stop perpetuating this whole model student/model immigrant paradigm. I, for one, was *not* a model student. In high school, I barely made it out of Chemistry and almost flunked Algebra II. I was simply blessed to find a passion--journalism--very early.
