This is in the metroplis that currently has a tent city in #OppenheimerPark protesting and occupying unceded territory against poverty homelessness, gentrification development, renovictions and the third world living conditions imposed via SRO housing, upon the most poor and vulnerable, and from a sample count of 94 tents I conducted of 264 people in the perimeter of the park on afternoon August 2nd, 2014, it took 3 hrs of accumulated time over a 5 hr time period and the estimated calculated result is as follows: Of 264 people (this was a 3hr sampling of an inconsistent variable environment and not a scientific study in any form, but a random sampling): Q: How often are you here at Oppenheimer park? A: 172 people claimed they were at the park everyday before and after occupation and Q: are you staying here? A: 103 people stated they had slept there for the full 17 days, of those 172, Q: do you have an SRO room? A: 54 people rent current SRO housing they agree is unsafe inadequate or insecure and preferred to sleep in the tent city and Q: are you worried about getting kicked out? all 54 of them fear eviction At the time of the sampling, only 32 people said they had social housing or other accommodation they found safe and acceptable Of the entire 264 people surveyed 53 had no response or did not wish to speaks Q: where do you stay if you dont have a room? A: 39 admitted they were truly homeless or bouncing in shelters/coach surfing, doorway & alley occupation Wow, you do the math.. At the current rate of renovictions , if we calculate within estimated proportion to the acknowledge DTES geographical area and recent stats and current head count of SRO this could indicate an addition >
