This is just another example of waisted taxpayers money! The town of Suffield CT is suing our very own The Chicken Chick because of her backyard flock of 36 birds. Now I have personally been to Kathys home to install The Chicken Fountain™ and can tell you that she lives in a rural area. Her home currently has only 2 acres but Kathy and her husband are leasing (in process of buying) an additional three acres to make it a total of 5. The requirements are that she must have 5 total acres to keep her flock. The county were the ones who recommended that she lease the property to make sure she was in compliance. She did and now they have changed their minds! Their stance is that you have to own 5 acres to have the flock, you cant lease although at first they said she could. I guess this means that people who rent/lease property cant use the property even though they meet the requirements. How about large poultry operations who dont own the land, they lease it. Are they out of compliance too? I know Kathy and I can assure you that this battle is not over. To keep up on current happenings and to show your support head over to her page.
