This is just strictly opinion, and I would like feedback from our followers on this. I believe the media surrounds an overload of hype over certain players. Look at Tebowmania and Linsanity. They are long lost. The media wanted you to believe these guys were larger than life. Insert this for thought... Bryce Harper. He has played 214 career games, about a season and 1/3. Hes posted a slightly above average batting average .270...not even a top 30 MLB batting average. He has, though, had 39 homeruns which would average to about 26 a year which is slightly above average. The kicker is he only has 97 RBI over his career, which would average out to about 70 per year...average hitting numbers. I will add comparison to Machado, Puig and Trout to follow. Thoughts.
