DEP will fault gas companies only if the contamination is within 1,000 to 2500 feet from the water wells and reported within a certain amount of time...Anything happening beyond these culpable limits , will not be determined to be the gas companiess fault; these distances are arbitrary; in the years of 2009 and 2011 , 1,000 was the culpable distance and then it changed to 2500 after that and it needs to be changed again; we have folks complaining of serious water changes/contamination beyond 3,000 to 6,000 ! taking in a longer distance will up the contamination numbers several fold....! dailykos/story/2014/08/29/1325694/-Pennsylvania-Makes-Public-243-Cases-of-Fracking-Contaminated-Water#comments
