This is my 1997 Big Ten Rose Bowl Championship ring. First thing ppl want to know is Did U Play!! Let me answer yall...I was video. I made every practice breakfast lunch and dinner for 3 yrs. I was like BASF in that I wasnt IN the picture, I was what made the picture Clearer. I lugged around a 40k camera and climbed towers, mounted it on a tripod, white balanced and shot Stanley Jackson throwing strikes 50 yards down field; Terry Glenn and Shawn Springs battling one-on-one everyday in practice. Two of the greatest testing each others will. Cat and mouse. It was pretty. They owe a lot to each other for their greatness. I sought the wisdom of coach Stobart and he was kind enough to set me down after practice in his office and teach me on the whiteboard. Coach Conley taught me that some days u get the bear while other days the bear gets you. I was a sponge. I watched Coop chew some a.. from time to time...Stanley Jackson was his favorite topic. Lol I smelled the same grass, was engulfed by the same roar of the hungry crowds in The Shoe, laughed the same laugh and cried the same tears -eat one Michigan! But Did I Play? Naw, I didnt play. I learned. I learned a lot about sacrifice, commitment, valor; The Ohio State Way. I graduated and got a teaching job and coached HS defensive backs and wide receivers passing on what I had learned from Stobie and coach Conley to the next generation of hopefuls. Now, at 50, when ppl ask me Did I Play I say Yes...4th string QB. Happily they believe me. 😉 Buckeye Nation. Holla At Yer Boy!!!
