This is not a poem or prose, it is just my feelings and hope it may help someone. The Dragon I had a friend called the Dragon, I constantly stayed by his side. But what I did not know was it was only one sided. He did not care how many times he hurt me, as long as I allowed him in my home and in my life, He did not care that I was sick or could not make it into work. He destroyed my family and all the while I still defended him. I spent so much money on him and I stayed out until I had no more money left. How could I have been such a fool ? He did not love me like I loved him. I spent so much money on him and could not pay my rent. I could not even buy groceries. Every bit of money I had I spent on him. I decided it was time to end this friendship. I had to go into the hospital because I was so very sick. My ex-friend the Dragon in the bottle did not win. I have been clean and sober now for 24 years next month February 12th. Thank you Jesus, Amen ! Linda Fisher Adams
