This is one of my favorite films. When Sandy and I took a long drive across the middle and northeast of Brazil in the late 1970s (when this movie was made), we ran into several scenes that looked almost exactly like the first 4-5 minutes of this movie. I even had the same t-shirt that the main guy of the circus is wearing in the first scene. It is also a terrific visualization of the time when TV began to spread deeply into Brazil, bringing what passed for modernity along with it. In fact, the film is a nice meditation on that, what will modernity look like in the backlands of Brazil. Warning: it does have some nudity.
