This is one of my favorite gospel videos for the very fact of how it touches the hearts of the gospel singers listening to it. Not hundreds, not thousands, but millions and millions of miles are represented by Ricky Skaggs and the people listening to him here. Miles of traveling to some of the most remote places in the US and the world playing to shattered hearts and trying to bring hope to incredibly dark situations. They have faced every possible temptation, and sometimes failed, but they picked themselves up and kept on allowing the Lord to use them as He will. They have had every kind of heartbreak. They have lost parents, spouses and children and continued on. They have faced isolation and adulation and walked with the Lord through both distractions from the truth that Jesus Christ is Lord. Veterans of horrible battles are reminded of the pain that only they and Jesus are aware of and they all know they would not have made it without the prayers of that Somebody. While I listen to this, I think back at the shattered places of my life, scars from the missing pieces of my body, horrors of the horrible things that I have done and even worse things that I would have done apart from the mighty hands guiding me and protecting me from what I cant see. Born and raised and living now where the frustration of existence destroys potential before it is recognized, imprisons thought in self manufactured anesthetic, and destroys innocence and replaces it with guilt, shame and fear, I would not have made it to this point had there not been somebody praying for me.
