This is one of my favorite posts that Ive written this year. Im waiting for my flight and I see a prisoner in handcuffs right next to me with 2 government officials escorting him. I didnt notice at first because he had a sweatshirt over his hands. I started talking to the majorly tatted up prisoner and asking what he was in for. He said stealing cars and assault. We talked about his his life and how he has been in and out of prison since 1999. I asked him if he had kids and then you could see the hardness of him melt with emotion. He said he doesnt get to see them much. I talked about my my life in foster care, why my dad was in prison and how I am trying hard to pass on generational blessings and not generation curses to my children. When it was time to board his flight, he stood up and with his shackled hands, he reached out and shook my hand and thanked me for taking the time to talk to him. (many other travelers had moved away from him) I spoke faith into that man to be there for his children and to not pass on generational curses but pass on generational blessings. It is never too late to start making the right choice. I was filled with emotion as I said this because I wanted him to know that his children are paying the price for his mistakes and sometimes it will follow them throughout their life. It was a great conversation eye to eye, man to man. I am glad that I took the time to speak to him. The Lord works in mysterious ways. H.O.P.E. Helping One Person Everyday.
