This is one of the greatest relay wins for the USA womens team - 4x100 free relay in 1976 in Montreal. The USA women had not won a gold in any of the competitions that year. This was the last race of the Olympics for the women. Kim Peyton of Portland was the leadoff swimmer. Wendy Boglio was second (now resides on the eastside), Jill Sterkel was third, and Shirley Babashoff was anchor! Years later the East Germans admitted to systematic doping of its athletes.
