This is one of the many reasons I think that drug testing welfare recipients is a stupid idea. Its prohibitively expensive, fewer than 3% of welfare recipients tested positive and were removed from the system and now (as expected), the lawmakers who wrote & voted for the bill have been caught engaging in the very behavior this law was intended to prevent. Hypocrisy at the highest level, this guy should be tossed out on his ear. His salary as a member of Congress was probably ten times what the typical welfare recipient takes from the system. Dont get me wrong, I fully believe the welfare and food stamp systems are being wastefully abused by people, but drug testing people to get a welfare check is quite possibly the stupidest solution Ive ever heard proposed.
