This is one of the most bittersweet moments of my life. After 4 solid years of doing exactly what I love to do the time has come for a change. Starting tonight I will no longer be running Pura Vida BJJ, and will instead be the newest instructor at Red Schafer Mixed Martial Arts, as well as their MMA teams assistant coach and Reds personal life-coach. Red and I have been talking about this for awhile now, and he has always expressed his high regard for me, but our joining forces was always theoretical up until recently. The stresses involved with running my own team have always been huge, and financially I have to follow my head instead of my heart. I try to hide that stuff from my students the best I can. Eric Red Schafer made me a great offer, and I have to do the best thing for me at this point. I know that Zak Ottow will do a great job running the team without me, and I hope that I can remain a part of the Pura Vida family, even though Ill be wearing different colors from now on. To my old teammates and students - I will always remember the great times weve had, and I wish you all the success in the world. To my new teammates and students - WAR RED ARMY! P.S. Happy 4/1/14
