This is one of the reasons why I fought so damn hard to make Tai Cheng the way I did. Just because an anatomy or kinesiology text tells you that a muscle does a certain thing, that DOES NOT account for individual variation in how you have trained your muscles to perform. In reality, function HEAVILY influences form. So if your body is functioning in a less-than-optimal manner, it will change the internal landscape of your joints eventually by making detrimental changes to your soft tissues (blood vessels, nerves, muscles, tendons, & ligaments) or your skeletal system. In simpler terms, if you decide to skip the step of developing an inventory of movement FIRST, youll borrow that movement from somewhere else. It might not bother you today or right now, but just like borrowed money, you wont enjoy it when you have to pay the piper for your impatience earlier. - Dr. Mark Cheng
