This is one of the very special Outcrosses I received from Russ Crow to grow out this year. The variety is called Evening Moon Old Outcross. I am pretty sure these are segregating as F2 generation from the outcross. This particular plant is a strong medium sized sprawling determinate bush, and it is making wax type snap pods which are shaped like more typical dry bean pods. These pods in this photo are nowhere near mature. They are still solid, not at all with the hollowness mature pods get before drying ripe. Another plant in this outcross made beautiful gloss black seeds in well packed pods which mostly ripened at once, and is working on a small second crop for the season. Evening Moon normally has white roundish seeds with light beige area around the eye. I do think this will become a true triple purpose wax bean. Im visualizing these firm pods nicely pickled.
