This is painful for me to post, but I feel I must. I had a run in with a Christian face book friend today and what was said to me was very sad indeed, it just goes to show just how out of touch Christians have become with sound doctrine, boy do we need to get back to the truth of Gods word because so many have been taught so wrong!! I will not mention this persons name to save them any embarrassment. It was said today by this person Revival is coming so if you dont want revival unfriend me. This person went on to quote several scriptures, but the one that stuck out to me most was Hebrews 10:26 For if we go on sinning willfully after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, 27 but a terrifying expectation of judgment and the fury of a fire which will consume the adversaries. Whats so surprising to me is that sin is willful not accidental! Everyone since becoming a Christian has fallen short or has struggled with something. Hebrews 10 was written to Jews that had received the truth of the gospel, but rejected it for the old covenant system with its sacrifices. They continued with this abomination even after receiving the truth and did so willfully! I asked this person if they understood the verse they used as a they were using it to caution present day Christians to stop sinning. First of all if you are in Christ you are not a sinner even when you fall short scripture says in 2 Corinthians 5:19 that sin is not imputed to the new man Christ making reconciliation for transgressions. Scripture says in Hebrews 9:26 He has appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself for the believer. What in heavens name is this person talking about???!!! This person went on further to tell me that if I dont want revival then to unfriend her. Oh my gosh! all I did was ask her if she understood Hebrews 10:26! She stated after that that true revival comes with repentance? Yes and No! Repentance from sin is not a prerequisite for revival, but a result of Gods goodness towards sinners or unbelievers, repentance from Unbelief? YES! stop sinning altogether for Gods blessings and salvation? No!! She went on to tell me to learn what Grace means.....really? She also went on to say JESUS is coming back for a beautiful bride without spot or blemish. Im wondering does she even understand How the bride is made spotless and without blemish, by the finished work of Jesus or by the works of the law? So if one wants to be spotless they have to be a good person? Thats not bible because no one is good no not one, its Jesus that is good and His goodness, righteousness and holiness is imputed to us apart from works its granted to us freely by faith in Him not good works. This is an example of a believer that is steeped in Legalism and she is very unaware that she is. How do you call works Grace? The 2 are opposed to each other. I hope all of my friends to come the full knowledge of the Grace of God and throw off this works mentality. Thats my prayer from here on out. Lee Jenkins
