This is really pissing me off, as a football fan, a former newspaper reporter and a man. The NFL lied to reporters (OK, maybe massaged language) to claim they had not seen the TMZ inside-the-elevator footage when they gave Ray Rice a two-game suspension for domestic violence. Or maybe the saw it and still handed down just a two-game suspension. Reporters bought into the lie/massaged language and didnt double check with obviously available sources (like local law enforcement and hotel security). Now the NFL first claimed they hadnt seen the video, and reporters are reporting that. The same reporters who back in the spring said the NFL had seen all available footage. Only now, after TMZ is reporting the NFL did have access to the video, are reporters angry the NFL lied to them. Yet still they wont say who lied to them. Football: Get your head out of your ass. Dont even pat yourself on the back for doing the right thing now. You say Ray Rice drag his fiance unconscious out of an elevator. Now we hear you may have seen him punch her and decided two games was enough punishment. And you lied to reporters, either now or then, whether you had the video initially. Clean your house. NFL reporters: You acting screaming mad because the NFL, yours sources and perhaps your own beat peers are covering up the NFLs screw up on the Ray Rice domestic violence suspension. Yet you wont out the source that burned you. because you still want to have the scoop on whos starting at quarterback for the Cleveland Browns. Football starting lineups are more important than the league covering up its lackadaisical response to one of its employees knocking out his soon-to-be wife in an elevator? Men: I cant believe the morning the TMZ video was released there were still men claiming Rice is being mistreated. The video is sickening. After Rice punches her and she falls to the ground, he doesnt react at all. No shock, no Oh man, what did I just do? He simply looks at her on the floor, opens the elevator door and drags her out like a load of laundry. And dont even get me started that today shes still defending her husband and condemning the media. I think Im done here. Rant over.
