This is sad. While there is no room for hazing, they have gone too far and taken away a key element of the transition to CPO--Bonding! There may be a thin line between hazing and bonding, but by being so afraid of crossing that line, new CPOs have lost that bond that has always been the strength that made the mess such a powerful tool to the Navy. Theres not enough info here to determine on which side of the line this incident was, but we need to be a little less quick about screaming that the sky is falling every time a Chief and a selectee do something outside the bounds of the current accepted textbook.
