This is shared from a person at a shelter in Louisiana, but applies to all shelters everywhere. Those that want to blame the shelters for the killing are off base. YES, I know there are bad shelters out there. But even the worst ones are not manufacturing these pets from within. It is society/people that supply the shelters! And as this post states, if people CARED about their pets that die at shelters, they would make more effort to rehome them themselves or look for them when lost. And it goes without saying that allowing pets to reproduce willy nilly is criminal. Anyone who truly believes that there are plenty of good homes for all these pets dying in shelters is seriously delusional.
