This is some of Levis work - an early 70s San Juan 72 Lennox gun by Bob McTavish. It was a basket case when I got it, costing me $100. I love guns so it was a no-brainer to buy it. It showed no end of delaminations, stress marks, dings and poor repairs. Levi sanded it back flat, fixed the delaminations, repaired the dings with pigmented resin. As far as Im concerned this board is epic...still original barring gloss-coat and it looks a million bucks. Unfortunatley the images dont show the battle scars fully unless you look closely, but in saying that, this is indicative of how easy it is to make a beater look good. Just as an aside - this is an example of how not to take shots...look for evenly lit or shaded shots with the board standing upright. Much less reflection. Note also how much easier it is to define the outline and details of the board when its standing vertical. Laid flat you get a parallax error and it doesnt show the true shape. Again, I will leave it to you to decide, but as far as Im concerned this board is validation that a beater can be restored to a clean very presentable condition without resorting to full heavy restoration work. Be aware though - dark colours like this and the MP are much easier to hide major damage. Unpainted or tinted original clear glass work is much harder to get as good a result.
