This is something I have noticed over and over. Im sorry for the length. This is not really a rant more of a what I see and notice. When people are doing things independently, whether it be music, writing, sports or anything on their own and they have merchandise they sale, please dont try and haggle. This isnt a yard sale. I have seen it time and time again. Music for example. I have seen artists selling CDs for $10. Then I see people come up and offer $5. First off, the band is playing at this venue which most of the time isnt paying a lot depending on the crowd. Then you offer a half price for something they have worked so hard for? If I counted up the money spent on our newest record the total would astound you. To break even we would almost be forced to charge around $30 a cd but thats absurd. We made a record to get our music out. Were going to charge $10 because we feel its a fair price. Supporting an artist thats on a major record label that can afford to have their music pirated is fine. If you can pirate our music thats great too. Heck if youre listening to the record thats great too. If you get a copy of a friends cd and listen to it. I love that. I want you to hear the music. Moral is, dont go up to any independent artist or wrestler or writer or anything and treat their product like it should be at a yard sale. It makes you look dumb.
