This is something I rarely talk about publicly. But since Im woke at this hour, & scanning the internet...Imma go ahead and speak on it. This will explain why Im not a hater of Jay-Z, I just dont like the man. This article is an example of why I dont pay attention to reality tv, blogs, or articles about celebrities. The information is slanted to fit whatever perception they want the masses to take in. This article makes it look like Jim Jones signed NOE as some Jay-Z knock off. Below are some facts about the situation. Facts: 1. NOE was rapping before anyone heard of Jay. 2. People who know them both are astonished at how much their speaking voices sound alike. HOWEVER.. 3. NOE raps with his speaking voice. In his career, Jay has often deepened the tone of his voice on songs, which actually makes his voice sound more like NOEs. Im not implying that he did it to sound like NOE. Im saying that Jay actually sounds like NOE, not the other way around. 4. Dame Dash was going to sign NOE to Rock-A-Fella. This was at the same time that Jay was saying that he was retiring. Since NOE had been in the game for so long, the industry knew, loved, & respected his talent. And Jay knew this day would come. At the time, staff at the Rock were playing NOEs music, all over the office. They were his fans, & were excited at the thought of working with him. 6. Why didnt NOE get signed by Dame Dash? It was because of Jays response: No. What do I look like signing him? That would be too much like I died, not just retired. As we all know, after that, Jay didnt retire. 7. Years later, Dame publicly apologized to NOE, saying he wished he hadnt been afraid to just follow his gut, because NOE was, and still is, a beast to be reckoned with on the mic. 8. Jim Jones never actually signed NOE, because thats not what NOE wanted. But Jim was about to be at the height of his career in a minute (NOE was in the studio with Jim when he recorded Ballin), & he knew that he couldnt let a talent like NOE slip through his fingers. The fact that NOEs voice was similar to Jays was a cherry on top....because Jim & the rest of the industry knew what Jay had done, in reference to NOE. This, ladies & gentlemen, is a snippet about why I am not a fan of Jay-Z. I understand too much about a situation that people speculate & gossip about, but is personal to me. Plus, when one man is afraid to let another man shine, I cant be his fan. Had Jay forever kept his influence out of NOEs career, hip-hop charts would look very different, today. But things happen as they should. Im proud of NOEs accomplishments, ethics, & integrity. He has been a man about how the industry loves him, yet fears the potential impact of his talent.
