This is something a bit different when it comes to carols, eh? I thought you might enjoy it. Jean de Brébeuf, a Jesuit missionary among the Huron Indians in Canada, purportedly wrote this carol in Wendat (Wyandot), the now extinct language of the Hurons, sometime before he was martyred in 1649. The earliest musical version is from 1907 but is clearly based on the 16th-century tune, Une jeune fillette. https://youtube/watch?v=IVvqX8NklAA
