This is something that you should read about Cyle. Its a memory that I have that probably not many people know about, even those on the trip might not have realized. The group photo posted shows all of the students from the Spanish Club trip to Mexico in 2003, or so I thought when I first found this album a couple of days ago. There is more to the picture than just the kids from CCHS. Upon closer look I found something that I havent thought about in some time. Cyle is wearing a straw hat. The child by him is wearing a Burger king hat, Cyles former workplace. You see, while we were there, we had a few families we visited show us around to different places. The child there, whose name certainly escapes me after more than a decade, and Cyle got to become pretty good friends while we were there in Oaxaca. The kid, probably around 5-8 years old at the time, loved Cyles BK hat. So Cyle let him wear it whenever they were together on the trips we took in and around the area. The kid loved it. On the day that we left Oaxaca, at the last encounter with the family, Cyle was kind enough to give the kid the BK hat. That can be shown very clearly in the second picture, the close up of Cyle and the kid. I have not thought about that in years. Even in all the conversations Cyle and I had up until a few years ago about the Mexico trip it had not been brought up. But after seeing this picture, the memory hit me like a ton of bricks. It made me smile. I now remember Cyle just laughing and saying yea, he wanted it.Why do I need it? Cyle didnt really make a big deal about it. but the kid was loving it. Of course Cyle acquired the straw hat in place of the BK hat, which probably led some folks to believe that his former hat had been misplaced or lost. But in reality he gave it to this little fellow in the picture. Cyle went out of his way to help somebody be happy. I do not think that was all that out of the ordinary. He very much cared for people, even people like this kid who he had just met. This is just another memory of Cyle that came about looking through this newly discovered Mexico 2003 album I found while home this past weekend. It is a memory that I decided should be shared with everyone on this page about our good friend and brother. Id be willing to bet there are others just waiting to be remembered and shared by other folks who saw this type of thing in action.
