This is starting to feel like a bad movie. I posted about the current Ebola outbreak some weeks ago. No one seemed that interested. I said at that time, that it was the first time its got into a major city. That is very significant. The problem is not going away. Its getting worse. The fatality rate is normally 60% to 90%. Currently its about 60% for this current out break. Relief workers on the ground said the epidemic has hit unprecedented proportions and are asking for much more help. The World Health Organization has now said that drastic action is needed to stop this outbreak. It has sent teams of experts to help locals deal with the epidemic and WHO plans to meet next week to discuss how to contain it. Dr. Bart Janssens, director of operations for Doctors Without Borders has now said as few days ago that The epidemic is out of control. What makes this so significant is that Ebola outbreaks usually are confined to remote areas, making the disease easier to contain. But this outbreak is different; patients have been identified in 60 locations in Guinea, Sierra Leone and Liberia including, for the first time, in a large city. There is no cure or vaccine. People are starting to fly out of this city to get away. As you know, I never post stuff like this, but Im getting a not very good feeling about all of this.
