This is such a brilliant article that resonates deep within me especially given some of my unconventional life choices and how those around me choose to react to it with holier-than-thou attitudes. I dont understand the increasing Arabization within the Malay culture (yeah its a culture, not a religion although I dont think most can tell the difference anymore) when even those whove done their Hajj have come back with horror stories of how rude and rough most of the Middle-Easterners are..so why are we so obsessed with being more Arab? I get that reciting the Quran in Arab and understanding what it means is preferred but for everything else? So many have become so obsessed with the after life and ticking off the checklist to Heaven that they forget about being human and being better people within their families and community in the short time that they DO have on earth. Great article to ponder before we embark on our fasting month and become too obsessed with breaking fast at expensive restaurants and piling on the food before everything runs out. But heck, what would I know..based off what you see on my social media stuff Im just the worst Muslim after all so rather than tell yall what to do with your life, Ill just work on being a better person.
