This is the 1st day of Childrens Cancer Awareness month. Can I ask everyone to please share the awareness posts and gold ribbons that Ill be posting frequently. For 7 years we have lived with cancer, the pains, fears, side effects and uncertainty. Its took 6 months before a diagnosis and Kimberlys poor body only had hours left before giving in. Over 98% of her blood was cancer by this time and her haemoglobin was below 3. Thankfully treatment began instantly. Although the Chemo wasnt as sucessful as hoped in the beginning, it was enough to kill some cancer cells which saved her organs. Initially we were in hospital for 15months with 2 possibly 3 weekends at home in that time. Kimberly had almost 3 years of intensive daily chemo and lost her poor beautiful hair 4 times. My brave hero is now 17 with the most gorgeous long dark hair. Why am I telling you all this?.... I never thought for a second this could happen to us. I stupidly thought cancer in kids was rare. ITS NOT RARE! It happened to us and sadly it could happen to you or someone close. Please, please help getting the awareness out there. We know the pink ribbon so well. Lets all know the gold one too. Thanks for listening x
