This is the FINAL WEEKEND for THE ODD COUPLE at LAKEWOOD PLAYHOUSE (April 17th - May 11th)!!!! AUDIENCES & CRITICS are CHEERING the SHOW!! There are Still Some GREAT SEATS Available for Our FINAL 3 SHOWS - Including Mothers Day on May 11th!! What AUDIENCES are SAYING About the Show: OMG!!! Everyone I mean everyone go see the Odd couple at Lakewood Playhouse. Funny, relatable and wonderful fun. This show is brilliantly acted and directed. Had the privilege of seeing, The Odd Couple at the Lakewood Playhouse last night. Witty, funny, relatable, and, in its own way, touching. The cast was fantastic; whether it was the failure to seem nonchalant or fixing an air cleaner with a scathing glare, you could find gems every single moment in their expressions. Directed by Steve Tarry, who should be proud of making at least 3 audience members in the main section bust a gut laughing about 100 times to the point they almost overpowered the sound on stage. Folks, any show that can keep you intrigued and stifling laughter for 5-10 minutes of absolute no verbal dialogue is worth seeing at least once. ...(D)espite having all the same quirks and saying the same words, Felix and Oscar are both likeable in this version. It’s all in the way Cantrell and Rogers portray the characters. In spite of their constant bickering, these two men care deeply for one another. That is clear through the show, and it is shown through tone of voice and gesture as Felix and Oscar scream invective at one another—a triumph of these actors’ ability to bring out the humanity in otherwise difficult characters. What CRITICS are SAYING About the Show: The freshness of the beloved slob Oscar Madison juxtaposed next to Felix Unger, the world’s greatest neatnik, professes to Simon’s wordsmithing genius and makes the show one one-liner after another, bringing the audience to near constant peals of laughter. Tarry’s cast has honed their lines to bring out the funniest possible interpretation and delivery; they have developed their characters with the same alacrity. -- Lynn Geyer (Suburban Times) I would like to add a nod to the director, stage manager Sarah Ross and company for the way they handle set changes. Set changes, especially for theaters that don’t have massive budgets, are often problematic. Stage hands often have to come out between scenes and move things, which is nearly always a distraction. What this cast and crew does, however, is so inventive that the stagehands were given a great ovation. I don’t think I can remember ever seeing that happen. In this play it happens twice, but the second time it happens so quickly that if you blink you might miss it. Obviously I’m not going to spoil the surprise. -- Alec Clayton (Tacoma News Tribune Reviewer / Blogger) The well-told play centers on the tales of the recently separated, and clean-freak, Felix Ungar (played by Jim Rogers), who moves into the apartment of his divorced slob of a friend, Oscar Madison (Christopher S. Cantrell.). What anchored this show’s perfections is the realism of the characters thanks to a solid cast that also includes Jed Slaughter, Gabriel McClelland, Roy, Martin Goldsmith, Kadi Burt and Palmer Scheutzow. -- Steve Dunkelberger (Tacoma Weekly) Cast the show well, play the characters, land the jokes, and youre 90 percent of the way home. Watching a familiar play performed well is like a perfect PB&J with a cold glass of Nesquik. It carries associations - feels like home. -- Christian Carvajal (Weekly Volcano) The classic comedy The Odd Couple is one of Neil Simon’s funniest and well-loved plays. Lakewood Playhouse, through the efforts of a skilled director and polished cast, presents a solid, entertaining production...Director Steve Tarry has assembled a fine cast of very experienced actors who work together well and know how to deliver comedy. -- Michael Dresdner (Dresdners Theatre Reviews) Only 3 SHOWS Left! --FRIDAY the 9th at 8:00pm [75 Seats Left] --SATURDAY the 10th at 8:00pm [37 Seats Left] -and the closing show- --SUNDAY the 11th at 2:00pm [43 Seats Left] For RESERVATIONS: CALL Our BOX OFFICE at (588) 0042 -or- MAKE an ONLINE RESERVATION Today at lakewoodplayhouse.org
