This is the Solo Finals at last weekends Rose City Blues competition. A local dancer, Dante Zapata, (in the dinner jacket) won. Blues dance is a style of dancing (whether solo or as a couple) that exhibits the styling of Blues Dancing, which was danced to Blues Music in the early 1900s in a number of regions across the U.S. It fell out of favor when rock n roll became popular but was resurrected about 20 years ago and has caught on in popularity and is now widely accepted in the dance community along side ballroom dance style, tango, salsa, etc. The band is Karen Lovelys Blues Band, an awesome (nationally known) local artist.
