This is the compelling story of the collaborative efforts to literally Keep Hope Alive! This approximately two-year-old Pit Bull mix arrived as a stray at the Lee County Animal Services shelter in North Carolina on April 9th, and was known simply as number 27802. She had obviously been overbred and then was abandoned. Hope was emaciated when she was found. Despite being described as sweet by the shelter staff, as a Pit Bull mix in an overcrowded, high-kill shelter, there was very little hope for Hope. On April 12th, Mary Ashburn, a volunteer with the advocacy group Friends of Lee County NC Animals, asked RADAR if we could help Hope. We immediately provided an offer to assist with her vet care as an incentive for a rescue to take Hope. We also reached out to a few of our rescue partners who focus on Pit Bull breeds. One of those rescues, Knick Knack Pittie Pack Dog Rescue in Pennsylvania, stepped up at once to take Hope! Hope left the shelter on April 14th, and went directly to the vet for her initial vetting and spaying. Fortunately, she tested heartworm negative. The rescue had this to say about Hope: She seems to do well with other dogs and didnt mind the cats in the vets office. She also does well with young children. When RADAR contacted us and we saw her picture, we knew she needed us! Please donate to Hopes Fund - $0 raised of $200 goal: raisingaidfordogsatrisk.org/hope #radardogs #rescuedogs #funditforward Fund It Forward!
