A ride that takes us from one juncture in the evolution of consciousness to the next one. Its ingenious special effects, its epic scope and intense drama achieve arts most subtle and important function: to go behind the viewers surface understanding of what they are seeing and implant an idea in their mind. This is arts most important function because it cant be achieved with the presentation of cold hard information that only a select few will be able to understand. Through wonder, spectacle, fear and curiosity this film truly changed my perspective on life. Matt McGrath gave me Scorsese. The Wolf of Wall Street (2014) is my favourite Martin Scorsese film because it was an assault of all of my senses and ethics. Ive only seen it once so far but it completely blew me away. Certain innovators and maestros never stop experimenting and surpassing themselves and Scorsese is one of those people. Also DiCaprio > DeNiro?
