This is the grave of Margaret Carroll. Margaret and her children - TopicsExpress

This is the grave of Margaret Carroll. Margaret and her children Patrick, Elizabeth, John and Ulysses immigrated from Ireland to Canada, then to Michigan. Patrick contracted tuberculosis in his neck glands and doctors recommended the high plains for this illness. They moved to Ogallala and settled nicely in the late 1870s. Patrick began assessing property and was elected county treasurer in the fall of 1879. The illness got him by December, and he was never sworn in. His family buried him on Boot Hill. Elizabeth became one of the first school teachers in town. In fact, she was so popular she was given the Keys to Aufdengartens only safe in town. She also worked as Postmistress later. Margaret died in 1890 and during that time so did John. No records indicate Ulysses. Patrick was moved to the new cemetery and buried next to his mom Margaret and brother John. Elizabeth died in 1935. Today this tomb stands long forgotten on the corner near the entrance to the cemetery. Patrick and his brother have no tombstone. But it appears they all share one as they lie quietly side by side.
