This is the lowest point in recent domestic US history..Michael Brown was unarmed, and he had been actually running away from a hostile police officer when he was shot a few times in the back, and he then turned around. At a minimum a trial should have been held to transparently determine whether officer Darren Wilson, a white police officer with prior indication of hostility to blacks, was guilty of a crime. The prosecutor, whose bias has been amply documented, took this case to a grand jury - the first time in his 25 year career he did that. This is a huge blow to the prospect of African Americans trusting the justice or indeed the social system. The number of innocent unarmed young African Americans killed by police in the US - two more were killed in last three days - is unconscionable and continues apace. When will this change? Middle class African Americans have been able to make tremendous headway against racism, but the poor live lives of constant harrassment and desperation, as has been so widely reported in the US media in the wake of the killing of Michael Brown.
