This is the type of stuff that really stimulates me. The amazing thing about this 4.3 GB, 1.5 billion pixel image, taken by the Hubble Space Telescope, is that this focuses only on part of the Andromeda galaxy and puts it into perspective in relation to our night sky. This is just ONE galaxy out of at least 100 BILLION galaxies in the observable universe. Each containing hundreds of BILLIONS to TRILLIONS of stars(100 billion in our own, the Milky Way Galaxy, and an estimated 1 trillion in Andromeda). This is already absolutely ridiculous and impossible to wrap your mind around, but then imagine all of the bodies that orbit those stars. The number of planets in the Universe is absolutely mind boggling. Even if only a small fraction of those contain or are capable of sustaining life, that leaves us with an unfathomable number of planets where life could exist, have existed, or exist in the future. I dont know how you cant be absolutely fascinated and in awe by this.
