This is totally ridiculous, demeaning and dangerous. Why are these people working as police officers? The reporting is incorrect as so far that the person in the wheelchair is a paraplegic, not a quadriplegic, but that is irrelevant. I know people who arent paraplegics--like my own mother, who lost the ability to walk caused by deterioration in her leg muscles--who might be able to walk a few steps using crutches (if she had enough strength in her arms and chest). There are people with MS and ME who use wheelchairs. Furthermore, why would that deputy want to test his ability to walk? Would that have influenced the traffic violation?
