This is webpage that shows how messed up family trees can be. I actually found this because I was searching for information on my 5th Great Grandfather Nathaniel Gilliam Harp who was the father of Leaner Caroline Harp. My cousin Tom (my maternal grandmothers fathers first cousin) noted on his family tree that our shared ancestor (my 5th great grandfather/his Great Grandfather) Nathaniel was born in Virginia. On some family trees, I was noticing Nathaniel Gilliam Harp as being born in England to Robert Harvey and Susannah Ellingford. Of course, I was very confused and scratching my head. I looked for information about Nathaniel Gilliam in connection Robert Harvey. buwt.blogspot/2013/01/gobsmacked.html I think my cousin Tom is wrong about Nathaniels birthplace. Both of Leaner Caroline Harp Hartles parents were listed as being born in Tennessee where she was born. I wonder if the information on the Census Record is actually correct. Is it possible that they could have written down both her parents as being born in Tennessee because she was born in Tennessee? This makes me think of my Rosenthal family line. According to Census Records, My maternal grandmothers maternal grandfather was Max Rosenthal born in Romania in 1886,and both his parents were born in Romania. Samuel Rosenthal was listed as his father born in Romania in 1859, and both of his parents were born in Romania. My maternal grandmothers maternal grandmother was Irene born in Latvia, and both of her parents were born in Latvia. I saw family trees that my 2nd Great Grandparents Max and Irene in them. I saw one that had him listed as Max Ivan Rosenthal born in Romania in 1886, but it listed his father Samuel Rosenthal being born in Russia even though the census record attached to him says that he was born in Romania. The family tree listed Maxs mother as Frances Schlesinger born in 1908. Obviously, the birth year is incorrect. My 3rd Grandmother cannot be younger than my 2nd Great Grandfather! I wonder if her name is correct. Its interesting that both Francess parents Moses Schlesinger and Daisy Meyers are listed as being born in USA. Irene was listed as Irene Rosenthal born in 1892. Actually, I found out that Irenes last name was Hosias from a marriage record of her and Max. They were listed as being married in Allen, Goshen County, Wyoming. Allen was a Jewish settlement. According to the Census, their firstborn son Edward was born in Wyoming. Goshen County borders Nebraska where my Great Grandmother Ruth was born. I messaged the person that owns the family tree, and I hope that he/she responds. The persons name is Hadley Rosenthal Levin. According to his/her family tree, 3rd Great Grandpa Samuel had a sister Anne that married into a Levin family. He/she is obviously a distant relative of mine. I do wonder if Samuel and/or his parents are actually from Russia. Maybe Samuel had Grandparents that came from Russia and/or Eastern European countries. I have nearly 2,000 matches at 23andme, and most of them are connected to me through Ashkenazi Jewish ancestry. It seems that most of them have Eastern European as family locations. I dont think that these are all 2nd Great Grandma Irenes relatives. I think that some are 2nd Great Grandpa Maxs relatives.
