This is what Britain has become ! A combination of unemployment, benefit sanctions, bedroom tax, evictions, homeless & debt all lead to a sense of desperation. A makeshift “village” has been discovered by amateur filmmakers, the tents and improvised dens were found on privately-owned wooded area of Hilly Fields. Some dens even have television aerials, generators, gas canisters and doors made from corrugated iron panels. Police confirmed they are supervising the area and Colchester Council is in discussion with the landowner regarding legal action & securing the land.
