This is what happened at a local music event honoring our Military Personnel ! Around the 1st of May 2013 I, Robin Lindenberg called 906-249-9102 and reached Jeff Glass after seeing his ad on Craigslist seeking to have a festival at his Gitche Gumee RV Park & Camp Ground at 2048 M-28 E, Marquette, MI 49855. On May 14, 2013 11:00am Michael Van Den Branden, Robin Lindenberg and Mark Hall met with Jeff Glass at Gitche Gumee RV Park & Camp Ground. Jeff Glass showed us around the campground. We determined it could work as the location for the Porcupine Bash 2013, Saluting Our Military, with a lot of clean up work that Jeff Glass said he would take care of. Jeff Glass also had a stage frame that he said he could have ready for August 19, 2013. On June 4, 2013, Mike Van Den Branden and Mark Hall took the tentative agreement to Jeff Glass. Jeff Glass requested changes, he wanted money up-front instead of him renting the sites so he could pay help to get the work done. Mike Van Den Branden and Mark Hall then went back to the Porcupine Press World Corporate Headquarters located at E3720 Munising St., Chatham, MI 49816. Mike Van Den Branden and Mark Hall changed the agreement , to be as Jeff Glass wished; that we would pay him in full on July 1, 2013. This agreement was signed by Jeff Glass and Michael Van Den Branden with Mark Hall present as a witness of the signing on June 5, 2013 June 16, 2013 Mark Hall returned to check on the progress and nothing had been done or changed for any improvements. As we were promoting our event, People were telling us to watch Jeff Glass as he is a crook and a thief and has been ripping people off for years. We even heard this from Police Officers. His local reputation spans the entire Upper Peninsula and beyond. We still choose Gitche Gumee RV Park & Camp Ground as it’s location is in Chocolay Township. WE, The Porcupine Press Publications have been producing the Chocolay Quarterly for the past 3 years and wanted to bring business to Our Customers and Friends, in C.A.B.A. (CHOCOLAY AREA BUSINESS ASSO.) July 1, 2013 Michael Van Den Branden and Mark Hall took Jeff Glass a check for $2,880.00 as Jeff Glass had already cashed the 1st check he accepted from Marie Sarchet for $120.00. We paid the $3,000.00 in full & Jeff signed the original contract that it was paid in full. Still nothing was being done with the many dangerous disasters Jeff Glass was suppose to taking care of. (Junk, the road fixed to be suitable for motorcycles, stage, etc. ) July 23 & 24 2013 Mark Hall was at the Gitche Gumee RV Park & Camp Ground working for Jeff Glass to get things ready for the Porcupine Press BASH 2013, Saluting Our Military. Jeff Glass had Robin Lindenberg drive her truck with Mark Hall to Air Gas in Marquette to exchange an oxygen tank so that the welding on the stage could be done. Jeff Glass said to use his account. Jeff Glass did not have an account so Mark Hall was able to exchange under His account. Jeff never paid for the fuel or time to go get it. Mark Hall did all the welding with Jeff Glass’ dangerous equipment, as we found out. Mark Hall also worked on and got running Jeff Glass’ road grater, plus fixed a dirt bike Jeff Glass was selling that did not run. Mark Hall got it running, Jeff sold it. Pay and appreciation-zero. July 29 & 30, 2013 Mark Hall, Brian David, Mike Van Den Branden, Jeremy Williams, Sam Corp and Robin Lindenberg were at the Gitche Gumee RV Park & Camp Grounds moving loads of corner blocks out of the concert area as Jeff Glass had not. Sam Corp and Mark Hall built a wall of blocks in front of the stage to avoid moving them farther. In order to move these cement corner blocks we had to use Porcupine Press vehicles. This required Robin Lindenberg, who was in Bergland, MI and on her way to Calumet delivering our Porcupine Press/ UP Magazine to come clear to Marquette to move the trailer as Jeff Glass was doing absolutely nothing to get this job done. Loss of a days work, gas and room expense wasted. Pay and appreciation from Jeff Glass-zero. Aug 17, 2013 Mark Hall returned to the U.P. to be here to escort our 1st arrival, the Sarchet family to the Gitche Gumee RV Park & Camp Ground, as we anticipated a problem with Jeff Glass. Mark had called Jeff Glass to see how things were looking, Jeff Glass was rude & obnoxious and hung up on Mark. Later Jeff Glass called Mark trying to joke with him & then getting rude, again. Our concern for the Sarchet Family came about after these phone calls. Robin Lindenberg had received a message from Marie Sarchet that they were heading to Marquette to check in at Gitche Gumee RV Park & Camp Ground. Marie Sarchet told Robin Lindenberg that She had sent a check to Jeff Glass for $120.00 after our contract was signed but before it was paid in full. She then sent Jeff Glass a second check for $100.00, which he also cashed and never informed the Porcupine Press of. We were aware of the 1st check and took $120.00 off the $3000.00 we were charged. Jeff Glass was reminded that he was to forward all reservations and monies for camping for our Porcupine Bash 2013, Saluting Our Military week to us as the contract stated. We had been unaware of the second check until now. Jeff Glass never told anyone to call us. He tried to deter people by telling them nothing was going on. Upon the Sarchet’s arrival Jeff Glass demanded another $40.00 in cash in order to set up camp. Jeff Glass had already over charged this family as our own prices were lower than his and the same price for similar sites for everybody. Mark Hall and Sam Corp got Jeff to agree to let the Sarchet’s set up camp. On Tuesday (8/20/2013) Jeff Glass agreed he owed the Porcupine Bash $61.00 on the Sarchet site rental, never paid us. Jeff Glass’ behavior upon their arrival was appalling and embarrassing for All connected with Porcupine Bash 2013. Marie Sarchet is one of our writers and her son Sam was here to play for Our Salute to Our Military Ceremony Sat Aug 24 at 10:00 am and Sam sang again at the J.D. Jacobetti Home for Veterans as part of the CVMA MI 35-1 1st Annual Police Escorted Ride to Marquette’s J.D. Jacobetti Home for Veterans. Monday Aug 19, 2013 Mark Hall, A.J. Bower, Brian David and Robin Lindenberg saw that many of the full hook up sites where occupied, that should not have been as we leased the entire campground. We then went to the Chocolay Police Department to see what we should do. We were advised to explain the situation to the campers at the Gitche Gumee RV Park & Camp Ground and then they could request a refund from Jeff Glass, leave or stay and pay us to camp during the Porcupine BASH 2013, Saluting Our Military. Mark Hall, A.J. Bower and Robin Lindenberg then proceeded back to the Gitche Gumee RV Park & Camp Ground to begin this process. Jeff Glass was unagreeable to anything to resolve this matter. When we asked him what he was doing about getting the stage ready, his answer was “nothing”. I, Robin Lindenberg said, “Jeff, it is in our contract”. Jeff Glass then proceeded to walk away and told me to, “get an attorney”. Aug 19, 2013 we had the Chief of Police, Gregory S. Zyburt and a Marquette County Sheriff come to Gitche Gumee RV Park & Camp Ground to explain the legal contract and our rights to Jeff Glass. We then went about visiting the Campers to inform them of the situation. About 7:30 we were up by the lake sites. That was when we found 2 very rude people and one nice couple. The Campers on site #37 said they would let us know in the morning what they decided. The Camper named Charlotte on site #36 refused to pay us or leave. The Man in site #32 came out of his 5th wheel in shorts that were unzipped & his penis was hanging out. Mark Hall told him he might want to put that away & zip up his pants. The Camper man started yelling at us, then came over & stood in a showdown stance, stared at Mark Hall for at least 3 min then spit on Mark Hall. Then we called Chocolay Township Police who came out, as well as a Marquette County Sherif Deputy. That non gentleman camper said he would leave in the morning. Robin Lindenberg told him that will be wonderful. We then approached the campers that were there to inform them what was going on and why. Jeff Glass had rented out campsites for our event week, collecting the camping money without telling any of the campers what was going to happen during the days of August 19 – 25th 2013, which was our Porcupine Bash 2013, Saluting Our Military. Tuesday, August 20, 2013: Mark Hall was with Jay Eshenroder at approximately 10:30am when a blue and silver helicopter was spotted circling the Gitche Gumee RV Park & Camp Ground. Then a white 4 door Chevy 4x4 and a red 4 door Chevy 4x4 each with a 4 wheeler in the bed entered the campground. When Mark yelled “Stop”, he identified himself as security. They did not stop or listen, instead they sped up. So, Mark Hall hit the box of one the trucks with his open hand, by the time he hit it the third time, he was pinned up against the truck, officers emptied his pockets, his hands were pinned and he was surrounded by Officers with AK47’s At the time the truck stopped, the officer in the white truck jumped out of the passenger side and asked, “What in the hell was he doing assaulting their vehicle?” Then he lifted Mark Halls’ right T-shirt sleeve and said, “Oh, an A-Head tattoo?” Mark Hall responded, “No, it is not an A-Head tattoo even though I was once in the A-Heads.” Through all this Mark Hall’s arm was twisted badly, causing him even more problems than he already has. Mark Hall explained who he was after they got his positive identification. Then the officers said they were U.P.S.E.T. and they were looking for marijuana plants at the cabin that Jeff Glass rents rooms out of at the Gitche Gumee RV Park & Camp Grounds. Through all this a helicopter with cameras was flying circling the Gitche Gumee RV Park & Camp Ground and coming in tighter and tighter circles. The helicopter then landed in Chatham Michigan where Michael Van Den Branden and Robin Lindenberg have a home and the Porcupine Press World Corporate Headquarters are located. Also spotted over both of our Employees homes in AuTrain & Trenary. Tuesday evening Jenn (who works at Chocolayy Township Police Dept.) & Bernie Stanaway had stopped by our site & stayed to visit for awhile. We invited them back, but they declined as they were moving that weekend. Wednesday, August 21, 2013 we had a black and gold helicopter fly over Gitche Gumee RV Park & Camp Ground, AuTrain, Trenary and Chatham. No other police activity that we are aware of. A Member of the CVMA MI 35-1 and his wife came in on Wed Aug 21 on their motorcycle pulling a bike trailer. He dumped the bike & trailer, his wife has leg injuries. The road was in terrible condition because of Jeff Glass lack of concern for the safety of our guests. Jeff Glass knew for 4 months that motorcycles were going to be coming in, yet he did nothing to make it safe until after their accident. Friday August 23, 2013 About 8:30 pm Chief of Police Zyburt stopped by the gate and asked Dana Ziegler and Emery Rushford if everything was OK. We appreciated his concern and he then left Gitche Gumee RV Park & Camp Ground. We welcomed friendly visits and drive thru’s by Chocolay Township & Marquette County Sheriff Dept. as they were both aware of our Porcupine Bash. We have never had a problem at any of our Bash’s, the worst thing that had ever happened was Rollin’ Smoke Barbeque had a pan of baked beans stolen. The pan was found and no police report was necessary. Friday August 23, 2013 Rocky, a member of the CVMA MI 35-1, was walking through the back road behind Jeff Glass’ junk area when he heard a “ping”, he looked to his right and saw three men dressed in camouflage crawling he also saw 3 men to his left dressed also in camouflage sneaking in. Other guests saw more of these men dressed the same. On Saturday morning August 24, 2013, the Marquette County Sheriff, Officer Loonsfoot arrived early for our CVMA MI 35-11st annual Police escorted ride to the D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans located in Marquette, Michigan. Mark Hall was right behind Officer Loonsfoot when Mark Hall heard the Officer say, “These people did not deserve this. This is a good organization and there is nothing wrong going on here. When I get back we need to have a serious discussion about what Mr. Glass told us.” On Saturday evening, August 24, 2013, many of our guests noticed little red dots in the woods. Mark Hall went up on stage and told the band to stop playing, at this time he took the microphone from the singer and yelled out, “Mr. Police Officers, come out of the woods and up to the stage so we can discuss the reason you’re here.” Some of the Michigan State Police officers came out of the woods and one of the officers stated they were there because of the noise ordinance. At which time Robin Lindenberg noticed it was 11:02 Jeff Glass had told us that he took care all noise permits. Mark Hall also asked the State troopers that came out of the woods why they were there Friday night also. At that time the State troopers stated, “It was not us, that was Homeland Security.” We shut the music down, the police left and come Sunday morning August 25th, there was hardly anyone left at the campground, as this was a family oriented event and the campers did not know what the authorities were going to do next. All of these problems were created by Jeff Glass because he did not honor his end of the contract and wanted us, the people of the Porcupine Bash out of his way. Jeff Glass went to the authorities with false statements and no evidence of any wrong doings. Mark Hall was profiled because of Jeff Glass’ actions which hurt our event and every Guest, Vendor, Band, and Sponsor. Jeff Glass’ misuse of the law for personal gain is a shameful misuse of resources and funds causing great damage to our Porcupine BASH 2013, Saluting Our Military and All involved. We have many witness’ to the fact that when they called Gitche Gumee RV Park & Camp Ground, Jeff Glass answered & told people there was nothing going on, no Bash. Other witness can testify that they called to make reservations during Aug 19-25 Jeff Glass told them what ever price he felt like at the time and never mentioned that the Porcupine Bash 2013 would be happening then. We had 4 Vendors that came from far away, (CA, Wausau, WI , Shawano, WI & Little Rock, AK) plus 3 local vendors, of which 2 that have been with us all long that did not do well as the people left, no one was there to purchase from them. Causing us to probably lose them for the future, just when we were really starting to get good vendors. Pat, our T-Shirt vendor had gone into Gitche Gummee Campground one day in June just to check it out. She was basically told to leave, that she had no right to see the campground. All she had been doing was checking it out to tell others about it. Jeff Glass was very rude to Pat. Jim Herman, AKA: Jimbo the Clown of the Baha Shriners in Green Bay, WI was there Thur-Sat (He left early because of what was happening) for Our Police escorted ride to the J.D. Jacobetti Home for Veterans in Marquette MI Despite Jeff Glass and the Authorities trying to ruin 4 years of hard work to get the Porcupine Bash to where it would have been, had we been left alone as law abiding Americans as we are. We still managed to help raise $1505.00 plus a truck load of gifts for Our Heros, The Veterans that reside at the J.D. Jacobetti Home for Veterans. We should have and would have had more Riders on this ride, guests at the gate and shoppers at the vendors had all this not occurred and scared off so many. Richard Alan Hall, Writer of “Remarkable” a wonderful story of 6 eras of Veterans and life also left early because of the situation. Charles Jarmen of WJML Traverse City and Petoskey was also there with his wife, Renee and they did not feel comfortable with what was happening either. We had 12 different bands come to play. Carbellion and (MoJo Perry, a $6,000 act that never got to take to stage) were sponsored by JD’S Bar in Green Bay, WI All other Bands came as volunteers because they love our Porcupine Bash Saluting Our Military and why we do it. Each and every Band learned special songs or put together special sets for our event. Patrick Holcomb, VFW Veterans Service Officer, Marquette, MI never really got to even set up as Jeff Glass’ internet service never worked for anyone. Pat was there to help any Veterans with any issues they were having. He will probably be busy with some of our guests as some had to leave because their PTSD. Mark Hall has been part of our family since the spring of 2004 when he approached the Porcupine Press about being a sponsor for a Mark Farner Celebrity Ride/ Concert Fund Raiser in Schoolcraft County, MI. We have worked as volunteers on many events together and both Mark Hall and Robin Lindenberg spent many weekends at other events promoting Porcupine Bash 2013 Our 4 years of hosting Porcupine Bash, Saluting Our Military have always been a family friendly event. We had Jimbo the Clown, a Bouncy House brought up from Petoskey, MI We had bike games and family games ready but did not play them as so many had left early because of the harassment we kept experiencing. After destroying what so many had worked so long for, Jeff Glass went up to each Band and our Sound Man to ask them if they would come back and play at an event he was having Labor Day Weekend 2013. None of us deserved the pain and hurt that Jeff Glass created. The Porcupine Bash 2013 had the potential to be a very big success. The tax payers of Chocolay Township, Marquette County and Michigan deserve better use of their hard earned tax dollars. While some Americans are getting comfortably numb with these types of actions we feel we were threatened, harassed and violated.
