This is what the Lord says, Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland. Isaiah 43:16 and Isaiah 43:18-19 (NIV) This is what God says, the God who builds a road right through the ocean, who carves a path through pounding waves, the God who summons horses and chariots and armies - they lie down and then cant get up; theyre snuffed out like so many candles. Be alert, be present. Im about to do something brand new. Isaiah 43:16 and Isaiah 43:18-19 (The Message) The year is almost gone, finished, past. We cannot reclaim it or undo it. We cannot rest on the things it has brought us. If tomorrow dawns, it will be another day, a new opportunity, and the time to show our faith in Jesus as Lord. Lets journey forward, knowing that God already inhabits the future and promises to provide us refreshment. Lord of all eternity, please help us to learn from our mistakes but not dwell on them. Please help us not rest on our accomplishments in this past year, but use them to further Your work in and through us. Please help us not quarrel with those who injured us yesterday, or last month. Instead, O Father, lead us down Your paths and help us to see Your mighty works this next year. In Jesus name and by His power we request it. Amen.
