This is why I dont use bike lanes. Besides the dooring, look at the clueless jaywalking peds crossing the lane without looking. Scary! I got left hooked yesterday by a cab and then physically assaulted by the driver because he blamed me but we both had the green. If I wasnt in the poorly designed bike lane I would have been fine. He grabbed me by my shirt and tried to hold me until the cops came. Hundreds of people were spectating and many were pleading for him to let me go. He finally did and I got the hell out of there. I wanted to punch and kick him so bad but I saw dozens of people filming. Somehow I made it out with just a bruise and a few mechanical issues. I always ride in the lanes with traffic and take the whole lane and I will continue to do so. Bad stuff happens in bike lanes here. They are made for people going 10 mph or less. 25 mph in traffic is so much safer. If I would have stuck to my motto I would not have had an incident.
