This is worth a few minutes of your time. Its sickening that toxic coal ash containing arsenic and mercury among other things is not considered a hazardous waste by the EPA and there for has no federal regulations regarding its disposal. We produce 140 BILLION tons a year of coal ash that is completely unregulated! It is dumped into unlined ponds across the country where it poisons our ground water, rivers, oceans, plants, animals and us. The story of Litte Blue Lake is horrifying, even after a lawsuit was filed against FirstEngery in 2012 the company was still permitted to dump waste in the unlined lake for 4 more years. The EPA has been working on creating the first ever set of federal regulations regarding coal ash for years and it said to be finalized by the end of December this year. I hope they stick to their word You can read more about it here news.nationalgeographic/news/energy/2012/08/120809-little-blue-run-coal-ash-pond-to-close/ https://youtube/watch?v=4iwD5J7GX58#t=558
