This isnt something that happens only to fathers. It is the way family courts operate. The cases drag on for years, and then the courts rule against the parent because they have been intentionally excluded from the childs life, often by order of that same family court. It isnt as though the judges are unaware of the problems caused by this. From the childs perspective, they have no idea of the battle being fought in the courtroom, and they grow attached to whatever family they are spending the most time with. Split custody seems like a fair arrangement here. Of course, this man does not get to make decisions about schooling, or medical care for this child because he does not have primary custody. In some cases, the adoptive parents go out of their way to make sure that the biological parent is excluded from the childs life. It is often true that they never wanted to share parenting in the first place. This situation can turn into hell very quickly.I hope ti works out for them.
