This issue comes up periodically and I recently saw this on a friends thread and just need to vent. I dont want to hijack someone elses thread to do this.. If it was your thread, I am not trying to pick a fight. I am a Libra....I am the queen of lets just agree to disagree...that is fine, but I get an opinion too....I honestly do NOT agree with the idea that a cure for cancer exists but that big money wont allow it to get out. Cancer is not selective. It does not discriminate. It does not care if you are rich or poor. It does not care if you are young or old. I know too many doctors, nurses, pharmacy reps and others who work in the industry and have fought and even more watched their own loved ones fight this terrible disease and lose. It seems crazy to me to propose that these same people could know of a cure and still let others die. I dont mean any disrespect, but as someone who is almost 4 years into a very difficult fight, I find the suggestion that a cure exists but is being hidden offensive to me. Never mind that cancer cells are different. I dont think we can expect a one-size-fits-all cure for cancer. We need several cures to treat each type of cancer. But that aside, who could stand by to watch us all dying slowly? Who wouldnt want the fame and notoriety of being the one, or one of many to win this battle? I dont understand this thinking. Maybe I am just terribly naive.
