This just happened to my daughter Nicole on her Southwest flight home for spring break from frosty St. Louis to sunny, warm LAX...brings tears to my eyes every time I think of it!!! Her flight was overbooked and the flight attendant asked for 2 volunteers to take a later flight for free. They also offered a $300 voucher. Not one person volunteered - I think getting out of the cold to sunny SoCal was too tempting. A few minutes passed and she came on the loud speaker again and mentioned that the space was needed for 2 soldiers trying to get home to see their families. Immediately every person on the plane, including Nicole, raised their hands and volunteered. The 2 soldiers were brought on the plane to loud cheers and hand shakes from all. They were also offered the two $300 vouchers from the people who volunteered to trade and were told to please use them to treat their families to something special. Tears were seen in the eyes of the flight attendants and the soldiers and many of the passengers. Sooooo heartwarming!!!!
