This just in from The New Mexican: The Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office has identified the owner of a starving dog found Monday in Pojoaque, a spokesman said Thursday. Officers are still investigating the case and haven’t decided if any animal-cruelty charges will be filed, said Capt. Adan Mendoza, who didn’t release the owner’s name. The emaciated animal was found near Camino Iglesia in Pojoaque by Ben Gomez, who was walking his own dog, Duke, on Monday evening, animal control officers have said. The neutered male dog is a 2-year-old mixed breed that weighed 49 pounds when it was found. An average dog its size should weigh about 75 pounds. Well keep you posted on any additional news and give you updates on his condition in the morning. Thanks, everyone, for your compassion for Raphael.
