This letter is in response to one I wrote to Mr. Rogers, administrator of MAS. I wrote a reply to his letter asking who is responsible for assessing the dogs. I am waiting for a reply (I just sent my letter to him about a min ago) Good morning Ms. Champagne, Thank you for writing concerning MAS’ policy on the stray area. However, you are mistaken about citizens not being able to go into the stray area looking for lost pets. That is absolutely not true. Citizens that have lost pets are escorted through both intakes (owners surrendering pets here at the facility and officers bringing animals in from the field), Healthy Hold, Adoption Hold, and Stray Hold. It is MAS’ goal to reunite citizens with their lost pets if they are here. Social media can misquote the policy to get a desired effect. Citizens coming to MAS purely to adopt are not allowed in the Stray Hold. They are escorted through our Adoption Hold and Healthy Hold to view pets that are vetted and the temperament assessed as adoptable candidates. Please understand that MAS is here to serve the community, although we are sometimes portrayed in a different light…. which is so tragic. If you have other questions please feel free to write or come by and validate information about MAS. Our doors are open for all to see. James M. Rogers Administrator, MAS
