This looks like a really interesting study, though so far my thoughts are based on a quick read rather than an in-depth one :) This data shows that some of the things that are claimed to be risk factors (e.g. being 41+ week pregnant) may not be, though it finds that certain other things are risk factors. Such research could be quite useful in helping us better define what a risk factor is, though the things I want to look at more closely at the moment are (a) the composite morbidity score and (b) the less well-defined (and more reliant on people/diagnosis) outcomes of suspected sepsis and requirement of hypothermia therapy. All needs to be considered in the context of this being hospital-based, of course :) sciencedirect/science/article/pii/S0002937815000848
